Pattern: baroque lace girls crochet cardigan pattern

I decided to call this cardigan design ‘Baroque Lace’ & looked up the definition of Baroque: highly ornate, deep vivid colours, exuberant detail, grandeur, flamboyant, a surprise element to achieve a sense of awe. I hope the cardigan meets some of the words in the definition!!

The Baroque Lace pattern looks more complicated than it is! It is suitable for intermediate crocheters who have some experience. The basic crochet stitches comprise of four lace patterns - for the main cardigan, sleeves, cuff/ lower edging/ collar. The only shaping on the cardigan is decrease stitches on the sleeves, which are worked in the round. There are three collar design options and there is only one button. Another plus is that there is only one seam to join – on the shoulders.

I have used a Double Knit (DK) yarn which is soft and spun with a fine twinkle/glitter thread, which sparkles when it catches the light. This quality yarn does not split or unravel as the glitter strand is well integrated. Another plus is the yarn is machine washable at 30c and each 100g ball is 300 metres long which means that the pattern only takes 3 balls for the largest size. An ideal cardigan/jacket for a party or wedding.
